Bourbon French Toast

Ingredients

What you need:

  • Thick Bread (challah, brioche, or French bread)

  • Eggs

  • Milk or heavy cream

  • Sugar

  • Cinnamon

  • Allspice

  • Nutmeg

  • Cloves

  • Butter

  • Bourbon

Optional Cranberry Sauce:

  • Fresh Cranberries (2 cups)

  • Sugar (1 cup)

  • Water (1 cup)

  • Any citrus juice (lemon, lime, orange)

  • Cinnamon

  • Allspice

  • Nutmeg

  • Cayenne

Instructions:

  1. Cut the bread into thick slices

  2. In a wide bowl, whisk eggs, milk, sugar, spices, and bourbon.

  3. Dip both sides of the bread into the mixture.

  4. Set the bread aside on a rack.

  5. Heat a non-stick pan or cast iron and melt butter.

  6. Sear both sides of the bread.

  7. If you like your French toast extra crispy, bake/air fry them for about 10 minutes.

  8. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and mint.

  9. For the cranberry sauce, add all of the ingredients to a pot and bring to a boil. Turn down the heat and reduce until you have your desired thickness. Add a little corn starch if you like your cranberry sauce very thick.
